Gloria Chu / Composer & Performer

In addition to a full-time teaching studio, Gloria is devoted to composing creative works for multiple instruments.  She received the Winning award in the 2016 Alberta Piano Teacher Association Creative Music Writing Competition with Snowflakes Terror for Violin and Piano, and honorable mention for Celebration Party for solo piano.  In 2017 she received the winning award with Query, Piano Trio for Cello, Violin and Piano and Wait for Me, Etude for Violin and Piano.       

In celebration for Canada’s 150th Birthday, Gloria’s arrangement of She’s Like a Swallow, Piano Trio for Cello, Violin and Piano was awarded the Canadian Folk Song Arrangement Prize by Jessie Plessis.  She received First Place in her Division for the Alberta Registered Music Teachers’ Association Provincial Composition with Persist, Piano Trio for Cello, Violin and Piano has been selected to participate in the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association to compete at the national level. 

As a performer Gloria actively participates in her community as a pianist, string instrumentalist and vocalist.  She has performed internationally with Académie Musicale Internationale in Vaison-la-Romaine (Provence) in France, New York Carnegie Hall, San Francisco and within Canada.  She passionately loves performing and enjoys both solo and chamber works.  Please see below for her recent performances.

Piano Accompaniment

Gloria Chu works with experienced students and professional artists as a piano accompanist. With over 9 years of experience in piano accompaniment with the violin and voice, she has worked as a chamber partner to musicians in Canada and the United States.
