Gloria Chu / Composer & Performer

In addition to a full-time teaching studio, Gloria is devoted to composing creative works for multiple instruments.  She received double Winning awards in the 2021 Alberta Piano Teacher Association Creative Music Writing Competition with New Light for voice, violin, cello and piano, and Glimmer of Hope for solo piano. In 2017 she received two Winning awards with Query, Piano Trio for Cello, Violin and Piano and Wait for Me, Etude for Violin and Piano.       

In celebration for Canada’s 150th Birthday, Gloria’s arrangement of She’s Like a Swallow, Piano Trio for Cello, Violin and Piano was awarded the Canadian Folk Song Arrangement Prize by Jessie Plessis.  She received First Place in her Division for the Alberta Registered Music Teachers’ Association Provincial Composition with Persist, Piano Trio for Cello, Violin and Piano has been selected to participate in the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association to compete at the national level. 

As a performer Gloria actively participates in her community as a pianist, string instrumentalist and vocalist.  She has performed internationally with Académie Musicale Internationale in Vaison-la-Romaine (Provence) in France, New York Carnegie Hall, San Francisco and within Canada.  She passionately loves performing and enjoys both solo and chamber works.  Please see below for her recent performances.
